Yesterday, I completed edx’s Introduction to Python for Data Science course. If I may pat myself on the back, I received a perfect score! I audited this course, I did not sign up for the certificate.
I will admit, this was a bit easier than I expected, it was completed over the course of about 3 days. It is definitely aimed at beginners, with the experience I’ve gained from other tutorials, I was able to breeze through this one.
The main benefit I gained from this course was the introduction to data visualization! I have never considered myself a big data nerd, but the tools introduced here make it seem so easy. Yes, I acknowledge this is just scratching the surface, but the scratches are interesting.
New words that I can add to my vocabulary are numpy, matplotlib, and numpy. The next step will be to bring these new skills into the real world. It’s one thing to make something in a closed environment where everything is supplied for you, its another to create it in the real world where users can actually access the graphs. Keep an eye out for a future post about this…
