Last night I “completed” The Complete MySQL Developers Course on Udemy. It should have been called “The Complete MySQL and PHP Developers Course”. It involved a LOT of PHP, that is a path I am not ready to travel. Quotes were used around completed because I didn’t attempt to fully comprehend the PHP portion. I get the concepts presented, the implementation seemed a little convoluted…
The MySQL portion was very useful. It covered what I was looking for, Database creation, SELECTs, JOINs, and other tools for populating and retrieving data. I cut my teeth on database interactivity on a now defunct platform called Parse. Remember that? For what it was, it was mostly great. I learned how to do lot, but it was using their syntax. I now need to know how to do it without Parse’s specific assistance.
My aversion to PHP is based upon my current other programming aspirations. As Python and Swift in my sights, I can only learn so much at once!
