Beginning a Journey

Last night, I signed up for an account at Free Code Camp. *insert cheering here*

I had known about this site for about 2 weeks, but it took me this long to get it going. Why? I don’t know. But that is why I am here, to try and overcome these issues.

I have previously almost completed the Code Academy curriculum. The term “almost” is used because I wasn’t diligent in my studies. I would go away, and drift back… Changes would be made the information-content added, more challenges, etc. I will need to go back and review my account.

Free Code Camp has quite a different structure than the Code Academy I am familiar with. It has 2 main sections-tutorials and real world practice. Each is expected to take 800 hours. In the tutorials, you have the opportunity to code with other students. This is a feature I believe will be very helpful. For real world experience, you get to help a non profit build a site!

With that said, I’m excited to get started and keep this promise to myself!

Update: Last night I completed the first few intro videos. Tonight, I finished the rest, (approximately 7 total). Since then, I have pounded through the first 50 videos/lessons. They are rather simple so far for anyone who has any experience with HTML/CSS.

I’m going to take a break for tonight, a side project is calling my name…
