Reviewing the Beginning Again

It has been too long… Again.

I have had an epiphany, I am not sure what I am trying to achieve. For the last few years, I have dabbled in a few different technologies, with no specific goal. Nor with the depth I should have. There are so many areas of “interest”, that it is difficult to know where to focus.

While I am on my journey of self discovery, I have returned to freecodecamp. I am doing my best to complete it, no matter what. Admittedly, I do appreciate many of the challenges. I have also discovered I have at least one nemesis, and its name is JavaScript…

Yesterday saw the eventual completion of one of the projects (D3 bar chart), and it took waaaaaaay too long. The challenges were met, but it is not pretty. I know where I am trying to get in the project, but JavaScript short circuits my mind.

If I remember correctly, JavaScript is one if the main reasons I dropped fcc previously. The curriculum is heavily based on it. In the past few years, I have realized that no matter how prolific it is, one can still have a successful career without the dreaded JS. Although I do use it on occasion, I am also realizing my growing interest in areas other than website development. I prefer to work on the logic bringing the data to the pages vs making the visual and browser adjacent portions.

Ok, back to it to try and complete the course…
