For longer than I’d like to admit, I kept hearing about this thing called Elasticsearch. Now I have an idea of what it is!
Over the last week, I completed the Beginner’s Crash Course to Elastic Stack (YouTube mini videos). I am by no means claiming that I KNOW Elasticsearch, but I believe I have a basic understanding of its abilities.
This is one of the best tutorials I have ever taken. It was focused, organized and had a plethora of examples! We walked through setting up elastic and kibana on a local machine, creating an index, importing data to said index, setting mapping, CRUD in the elastic world, the different types of search and aggregation, and more!
We did not go over the technical aspect of how to shard across multiple machines, duplication, etc. That is something to look into in the near future…
