I am finding GIS to be very interesting. The most recent tutorial, Exploring Spatial Information using ArcGIS Pro, did a very good job of introducing the product. It had similar elements to my last course for QGIS, but I think it has better structure and explanations.
ArcGIS is a paid product, vs QGIS, which is open source. But today I am not debating the benefits of retail or open source. I have barely scratched the surface of GIS, and am curious to see what more there is to learn. I may even see about using this as a bridge to get into LiDAR. (Unfortunately, there is no absolute plan at this moment)
For the tutorial, I downloaded the ArcGIS trial. With my current interest in the subject (and possible future tutorials), I am considering actually getting the subscription for a year. The only issue experienced so far is the laptop I am using is a few years old. It bogged down almost to the point of unusable when we did the 3D section. I am not committed enough to consider purchasing a new PC, but we will see what the future holds!
